                FAQ's

How do I order a Shubert?
It’s simple! All you have to do is send us an email at order.shubert@gmail.com with your requirements and preferences and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Or you could write to us at our Facebook page. Either way, be sure that we will get in touch with you.

What exactly are Shuberts made of?
We work with canvas shoes and acrylic paints. Regular white canvas shoes, like the ones we wore for P.T., are available at Bata. They’re sturdy and comfortable. Or you could provide us with shoes that you’ve bought, preferably with a plain surface. If you want hi-tops, do let us know; we can work something out.

What is the process of creating a Shubert?
First, you write to us expressing a desire to commission a Shubert. We get back to you and work on the initial sketches. After your approval, we start painting. This can take about 3-5 days. Once we’re done, the shoes are all yours.

How do we decide the design?
Some of you might have a pretty strong idea about what you want on your shoes; we’re cool with that. If not, we’re willing to work around it too. We can try something based on your general likes, dislikes and interests. If you’re completely clueless, Shubert always has a few ideas.

How do I have a look at the catalogue?
There is no catalogue. Each design is client specific and therefore unique. Usually, Shubert does not like to undertake reproductions of previous work. He says he’s not a machine.

Will Shubert paint me other superheroes like him?
No. Shubert does not paint images under copyright. He may be a super hero but he is a law abiding citizen who respects the creations of other artists.

How do the shoes reach Shubert?
You can meet us and hand them over, or we can pick them up from a nearby Bata store, if that’s what you are going in for.

                Do Shuberts melt?
No, they don’t. Shuberts are created using acrylic/fabric paint that is essentially waterproof. Before we send them off, we make sure they are covered with a varnish that protects the paint from wear and tear.

I’m not on the same continent as Shubert; will Shubert still paint me shoes?
Yes, of course. We use the facilities of snail mail quite regularly and would be happy to post your box of shoes along with our letters. Payment and shoe procurement can be discussed via email. You pay extra for Shipping.

What does Shubert do when Shubert’s not painting shoes..
..or when Shubert’s not watching bad tv? Shubert could be seen knitting, designing business cards and logos, painting tshirts, crocheting purses out of recycled plastic bags, giving little children haircuts or talking a long walk on the beach. You could ask him about that too.

                How can I help Shubert?
Aside from commissioning a pair, you can tell your friends about Shubert and promote Shuberts blog, Facebook page and Twitter profile. We love participation, you could write reviews or post comments and upload high res pictures of your Shuberts. We could send you a couple of business cards if you’re willing to hand them out to people most likely to commission Shuberts. We’re also open to partnership schemes.
